PROJECT MANAGER/ESTIMATOR
Point Builders, a commercial general contractor with offices in Cedar Rapids and Davenport, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Project Manager/Estimator.

Point Builders offers:

Qualifications:
  • 5 years minimum experience in commercial, industrial design build and hard bid construction.
  • Knowledge of Timberline, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam.
  • Estimating and buyout experience.
  • Understanding of city processes to obtain permits.
  • Experience managing projects up to $10,000,000.
  • Capable of organizing and managing multiple projects at any given time.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to develop relationships with owners, architects/engineers, subcontractors, and other employees.
  • Use written and verbal communication effectively.
Job Responsibilities: (include but not limited too)
  • Help develop the project design and pre-construction schedules.
  • Responsible for estimating and the buyout of the project.
  • Develop relationships with owners and architects/engineers to create successful projects and project teams.
  • Self- motivated with strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Review and approve pay applications, change requests, change orders and other project documentation.
  • Contract administration and management.
  • Submittal reviews with superintendent.
  • In conjunction with the project superintendent, plan and coordinate all aspects of the pre-construction and construction process, including obtaining permits, estimating, bidding, and awarding contracts to subcontractors.
  • Track and control project to complete within budget, on time, and according to specifications.
  • Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office, Sage 300, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities include:

Accounts Payable
  • Review vendor and/or subcontractor invoices, verifying contracts for quantity, price, payment terms, freight charges, and extensions.
  • Communicates with vendors as necessary. Communicates with staff for invoice approval. 
Accounts Receivable
  • Prepares accurate owner billings, enter and track invoices, and record payments received as directed by the Controller.
  • Maintain receivable records and prepare reports for month-end reconciliations.
  • Report on past due receivables and initiate follow-up.
  • Assist with billing documents and follow-up including special requirements
  • Assist Office Manager with tasks as assigned such as company licenses and completion of credit applications.
  • Prepare reports for GL reconciliation, closed jobs, and annual benchmarking/auditing purposes.
Payroll/Human Resources
  • Timberline for time entry, payments, and reporting.
  • Prepares month-end reports reconciling with general ledger for accuracy.
  • Perform additional payroll duties including preparation of federal and state tax payments.
  • Support company with human resource compliance activities including maintaining employee records, tracking personal paid days, and preparing employee materials and/or benefit packages.
  • Administer and explain benefits to employees, serve as liaison between employees and insurance carriers.
  • Benefit tracking – make sure that all employees are covered for all benefits they have signed up for. Process billings for benefits every month to make sure that cancellations have been done when needed and changes that need to be made have been made.
  • Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures and documentation.
  • Coordinate the resolution of specific policy-related and procedural problems and inquiries.
  • Keep current on new trends in Human Resources and make recommendations for changes and improvements as needed.
  • Fixed Asset control for all companies. Prepare reports, audit fixed assets on a yearly basis to keep information current.
  • Prepare year end 1099’s.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with one to two years related experience and/or training as an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SUPERINTENDENT

Point Builders, a commercial general contractor with offices in Cedar Rapids and Davenport, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Superintendent.

Qualifications:
  • 3 years minimum experience in commercial, industrial design build and hard bid construction.
  • Skill in accessing issuing and making decisions and communicating/implementing the decision quickly.
  • Knowledge of the construction means and methods and engineering techniques as it relates to the products and services provided by Point Builders.
  • Ability to comply with all work related deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain a work schedule of 7 – 3:30.
  • Ability to work daily and extended hours as necessary.
  • Willingness to travel if job requires it.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management staff, company project staff, vendors, contractors and project owners on any issues/problems related to the project.
  • Use written and verbal communication effectively.

Job Responsibilities: (include but not limited too)
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Assist in site logistics plan, construction phasing plans, and overall project schedule with final review by Project Manager and VP of Construction.
  • Understand and maintain job schedules with Micro-soft project.
  • Make sure all required state and local inspections are completed per job requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage the work of all sub-contractors.
  • Record and maintain daily logs (submit to the office weekly.)
  • Maintain and update record As-built drawings
  • Trigger the job close out process with the PM
  • Weekly updates to the Owner and Point Team
  • Create and maintain 2 week look-ahead on the projects
  • Manage multiple projects at one time
  • Review and mark up shop drawings and submittals
  • Ability to contribute to Pull Sessions for projects
  • Lead and coordinate pre punch-list with Project Manager and other management staff as needed
  • Attend all required meetings, including but not limited to networking events, customer/company meetings, etc.
